Celebrating 10 Years of Hope, Service, and Community in South Fulton

    Built by a Community.
    Sustained by One.

Margie's House began with one belief: our neighbors deserve the same care we'd offer anyone else. Ten years later, that belief still drives everything we do.

We Came Back for Our Community.

For two years, founder Margie Boone and a handful of volunteers drove to a family shelter once a month with food for families in transition. They showed up faithfully.

But something kept pulling at her. The need back home, in Fairburn, was just as real. And no one was showing up for it the way she knew someone should.

    So she came back.

In 2016, Margie's House launched with one goal: put groceries directly into the hands of families who needed them. The first event drew a handful of people. Margie was heartbroken.

She didn't give up. She kept showing up, and the community began showing up too. Over ten years later, we serve hundreds of families every month and have distributed over 4 million pounds of food.

That first quiet evening didn't stop the mission. It clarified it.

    Why We Exist

    Our Mission

"To equip disadvantaged families with physical, spiritual, emotional or financial needs by providing resources that will help them gain and maintain long-term independence."

    Our Vision

"We envision a community where every individual, regardless of their circumstances, is motivated, equipped, and empowered to build a stable, self-sufficient life. A community where no one faces hunger, homelessness, or hardship alone, and where every family has the support and resources to not just survive, but truly flourish."

Too Many of Our Neighbors Are Struggling.

Too many children in South Fulton go to bed hungry.

Too many seniors choose between groceries and medicine.

Too many single mothers do everything right and still come up short.

Too many working families still can't make ends meet.

These aren't statistics. They're our neighbors. And they deserve better.

Since losing my wife a year ago, managing on my limited budget has been a real challenge, especially as cooking isn't my strong suit. The extra food I receive from Margie's House has been an incredible blessing, providing crucial support that helps me make ends meet. It's truly a comfort to know that this resource is available to me multiple times a month. Margie's House has been more than just a help; it's been a true blessing.

    Margie Boone

Founder and Executive Director, Margie's House

Margie Boone didn't set out to build an organization. She set out to feed people. What grew from that has become one of South Fulton's most trusted community resources, reaching hundreds of families every month.

Her passion for this work is personal. She's seen what hunger looks like inside a household, what it costs a senior to skip a meal, and what it means for a mother to receive help without shame. That's what drives every decision at Margie's House.

"We meet people where they are. Every single program is built around that promise."

    Education

    A Decade of Showing Up

Behind Every Number Is a Name.

Across Georgia, 1.75 million people face hunger. That's 1 in 6 of our neighbors, and 1 in 5 children. Numbers like that are easy to scroll past. But they're not statistics to us. They're the mother two doors down. The senior on a fixed income. The kid sitting next to yours in class.

For a mother navigating life, Legacy Building Moms is a space to be seen, supported, and strengthened as she invests in her children, herself, and her future.

For a neighborhood without access to fresh food, it means the Golightly Street Community Garden, Fairburn's first, growing produce steps from home.

For a parent stretching every dollar, it means free Empowerment Workshops on finances, health, and parenting.

For a child, it means going home with a bag of groceries from Backpack Buddies, quietly, so no one else has to know.

For a family facing the holidays with nothing left to give, it means a Thanksgiving basket, or a Christmas morning that still feels like one.

This is our impact. Not just what we do. What it means.

    What We Stand For

    Dignity. Community. Lasting Change.

    Dignity
